A Unique African Experience Epako, a Herero word meaning the corner in a mountain range, is an upmarket luxury game lodge offering its guests an unparalleled African experience. Situated approximateley 270 k north of Windhoek and 22 km north-east of Omaruru on the Kalkfeld road, the lodge nestles against a hillside overlooking the Epako River. There are several waterholes in close proximity, one of which is illuminated at night.

Epako's 11 000 ha of dense African bush harbours a wide variety of animals. These include cheetah, leopard, giraffe, elephant, rhino, eland, oryx, kudu, wildebeest, zebra, springbok, blesbok, waterbuck, impala and warthog. Epako is also home to numerous bird species, such as the ubiquitous yellowbilled hornbill, colourful lilacbreasted roller and crimson Bou Bou and many raptors. Game drives include visits to sites of ancient Bushmen paintings and rock engravings and on special request sundowner drives are arranged for breathtaking views of Brandberg and Spitzkoppe.

Accommodation at Epako consists of 24 luxuriously furnished double bedroom units, all with bathroom en suite , telephones and air-conditiuoning and a mini-bar in every room. Satellite television can be viewed from the bar. At the begining of the day breakfast is served on the terrace with a view of an African sunrise.

A swimming pool offers respite for the hot and weary, a tennis court the opportunity to keep in shape, while a relaxed game of table tennis or darts afford a touch of activity before enjoying sundowners and a relaxed dinner.
Epako cuisine is an elegant combination of traditional Namibian ingredients and French cooking, enhanced by fine South African wines and French champagne.
A sumptious buffet-style breakfast starts the day. Lunch is light and tasty, served at pool side or in the air-conditioned dining room, while dinner is served either inside or at a leisurely pace around a campfire under the stars.
